About
Greetings and welcome.
Here you can find work that challenges the dominant belief in human superiority over other lifeforms, and explorations of how alienation from our environments, communities, and bodies both stems from and leads to the abuse of ourselves, others, the earth, and increasingly the greater cosmos.
But depicting the recurring theme of objectification creates a paradox. When does art originally intended to criticize systems founded on the condescension, judgement, and control of women and their bodies become complicit in or even an endorsement of them? Can self expression around self objectification become more harmful than healing? The goal is to evolve beyond these modes of analysis, irrelevant in a system built on empathy and respect.
This is a world that imagines life beyond humanity, not out of cynicism, but from embracing the relativity of time, perception, and the fact that nature is change. Perhaps it is not the fear of pain, but instead the pain of uncertainty that explains tendencies to devolve into apathy and inertia. Facing the terror by giving form to visions of apocalypse, societal collapse, and extinction exorcises the debilitating burden of the unknown, reveals context and nuance, and frees the mind to find better ways of living.
